The Lakers Pulled Off A Shocking NBA First This Season

At multiple points during their game against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, it seemed all but assured that the Los Angeles Lakers were going to lose.

They were being outscored by the Mavs in a huge way, especially from the three-point line.

During the first half of the game, it felt like the Mavericks couldn’t miss from downtown while the Lakers couldn’t get a single trey to land.

The Lakers trailed by as many as 27 points against Luka Doncic and his Western Conference team.

But in the end, LA pulled out a huge win and took them down, 111-108.

Before Sunday’s game, all NBA teams were 0-138 this season when trailing by 27+ points.

This means that the Lakers, a team rarely known for staging any sort of comeback, had the biggest of the year.

Once again, it was players aside from LeBron James and Anthony Davis who had some of the biggest impacts on the court.

Dennis Schroder scored 16 points and 8 assists while newcomer Jarred Vanderbilt was solid with 15 points and a staggering 17 rebounds.

James and Davis were no slouches of course: the team leaders scored 26 and 30, respectively.

The fact that the Lakers were able to come back from such a big deficit shows that their bench is stronger than ever and they are finding a rhythm that simply didn’t exist before.

The team hasn’t been one to typically rally back from a huge deficit.

Most people had assumed they wouldn’t even come close to taking down the Mavericks after digging such a big hole.

But head coach Darvin Ham is using the entire roster better than ever before and they have had a few surprises up their sleeves lately.
