For much of the NBA season, it seemed like fans of the Los Angeles Lakers were only receiving bad news.

But on Friday night, they had one of their best nights of the year.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Toronto Raptors with many fans worried they were headed to another defeat, especially because LeBron James is still out of the game with a foot injury.

But that didn’t matter as the Lakers picked up the pivotal win.

Following the game, NBA analyst Skip Bayless had nothing but praise for the Lakers, saying:

“Lakers win again, sparked by D’Lo’s return, Schroder’s crazy shotmaking. AD, ONLY 8 POINTS, didn’t matter. No LeBron, didn’t matter. I keep saying: DON’T COUNT OUT THE LAKERS IN THE WEST. ONLY 2 GAMES OUT OF THE 6 SEED. LOOK OUT ABOVE.”

Bayless’ enthusiastic tweet is one of many coming from the Lakers’ fanbase on Saturday morning.

Loyal followers of the team saw a lot that they liked in Friday’s game.

Perhaps the thing that they loved most was the fact that Anthony Davis only posted 8 points but the team was still able to surge over the Raptors and secure the win.

For all of 2022-23, the Lakers’ roster has been incredibly thin with many players not able to step up and fill the void when James or Davis were absent.

But on Friday night, the team was just fine without James and with only minimal output from Davis.

It was D’Angelo Russell who led the way with his 28 points but four other players – including three bench stars – were in double-digits too.

As noted by Bayless, the Lakers are now just two wins behind the sixth seed in the West.

The fact that they were able to pull off such a big win on Friday night is giving fans reason to believe they could climb much higher.
