The New England Patriots desperately need a turnaround in 2023.

Their offense was dreadful last season, which was no surprise, given the fact that Bill Belichick refused to designate an offensive coordinator and put former DC Matt Patricia in charge of calling the plays.

Mac Jones wasn’t in a good position, but it’s not like he did a lot to prove his worth, either.

That’s why he put his head down in the offseason and vowed to earn everyone’s respect again after a tantrum-filled campaign.

Notably, that spoke volumes to former NFL GM Scott Pioli, who showered Jones with praise for his humility, candor, and leadership and how he took that blow to the chin and vowed to bounce back better than ever.

The early reviews of Jones’ career raved about his work ethic, maturity, and leadership skills.

But last year’s wasn’t a good look, as he was clearly frustrated and had some antics on the sidelines.

The reports in the early offseason weren’t encouraging, either, with coach Belichick hinting at giving Bailey Zappe an opportunity to prove his worth at QB as well.

The clock is ticking in New England.

Robert Kraft doesn’t want them to become has-beens and made it clear that not even Belichick’s job will be safe if they fail to make the playoffs again in 2023.
