Dana White “can see the light at the end of the tunnel” of his time as UFC president

Dana White recently revealed that he has no intentions of retiring from his post as UFC president anytime soon.

According to Charlie Moynihan, a producer for ESPN MMA, White stated that he does not see himself walking away from the promotion and the sport that he loves in the immediate future but is aware that all good things must come to an end.

In a yet-to-drop interview with Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA, Moynihan reported that the 53-year-old said:

“He [Dana White] is not retiring anytime soon but can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Check out the tweet below:

White became the president of the UFC in 2001, soon after Zuffa bought the promotion for $2 million, and stayed steadfast in his post even after the UFC was sold to a consortium of investors led by Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc.

The 53-year-old can be seen at almost every UFC event, often flanked by his trusted matchmakers, Mick Maynard, and Sean Shelby. He even hosts various MMA shows such as Dana White: Lookin’ for a fight and Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS).

Both shows involve hunting for fresh talent to bring to the MMA promotion. White is also responsible for promoting the careers of massive superstars like Conor McGregor.

When Joe Rogan revealed that he and Dana White are a package deal

Joe Rogan once revealed that he has a clause in his UFC contract that will see him leave the promotion whenever Dana White leaves or retires. Rogan has been an integral part of the UFC for more than two decades, making his debut as a backstage interviewer in 1997 at UFC 12.

As the years went by, Rogan’s popularity boomed exponentially, owing to the success of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), which has become one of the world’s most viewed shows, and his success in the stand-up comedy sphere.

He now serves as a UFC color commentator and can be seen sitting ringside at many events.

In an episode of his podcast (JRE #1817) with film producer Jon Peters, Rogan revealed that he would stay on in the UFC as long as White stayed as well:

“If Dana (White) leaves, I’m gone, that’s in my contract.”

It seems unlikely that White will leave the UFC anytime soon, considering he signed a deal in 2019 for a new seven-year contract to remain president of the UFC until 2026.
