Albert Pujols Has Vocal Fans No Matter Where He Goes

Albert Pujols can sure get baseball fans in all walks of life excited.
Last night, Pujols was not in the starting lineup for the second game of the St. Louis Cardinals‘ doubleheader against the rival Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
With the game well out of reach in the top of the ninth and the Cardinals jumping all over the Cubbies, fans at Wrigley Field began a little chant as the Cubs brought in left-hander Steven Brault to pitch.
An entire section began to chant, “We want Albert!”
Ultimately, they got their wish, as Pujols came to the plate after the Cubs put in Franmil Reyes to pitch.
A section of the crowd is chanting for Albert Pujols as a lefty reliever comes in from the #Cubs bullpen.

“We Want Albert!”
It doesn’t matter where Pujols goes.
He’s going to get some loud cheers no matter which team the fans are rooting for.
Granted, Cardinals fans travel pretty well, and the vast majority of the fans chanting were most likely Cardinals fans.
But even some Cubs fans were probably hoping to see Pujols take an at-bat.
Pujols is the kind of player that helps sell tickets and pack a stadium.
And with him in the final season of his career, fans want to see as much as The Machine as they can before he rides off into the sunset with Yadier Molina, and potentially Adam Wainwright as well.
Fans want to take a good look at Pujols on the field before they can’t anymore.
Things certainly won’t be the same without him.
But if even Cubs fans are chanting to see him, that just shows how special of a player he truly is and has been for so many years.
This will be Pujols and Molina’s final pass through Wrigley Field after all.
