Police Respond to Shooting at Nashville School

The Nashville police said on Monday that officers had responded to “an active shooter event” at a private Christian school and that the person with the gun was dead.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said that the shooting had taken place at the Covenant School, which serves students from preschool through 6th grade, according to its website.
“The shooter was engaged by M.N.P.D. and is dead,” the Police Department said on Twitter.
The Nashville Fire Department said earlier on Twitter it was responding to “an active aggressor” at the school.
“We can confirm we have multiple patients,” the department said.
It was not immediately clear how severe the injuries were or whether any schoolchildren had been shot.
A Nashville police spokeswoman said that the police had responded to a call at 10:13 a.m. for an “active shooter” at the address of the school and that there was a large police response working to assess the situation, give “patient care” and ensure safety and security.
This is a developing story.
