Percy Hynes White Has Reportedly Been Written out of ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 After Sexual Assault Allegations

Wednesday actor Percy Hynes White will reportedly not be returning for Season 2. The Daily Mail reports that the actor’s character has essentially been “written out” of the new season just months after he was accused of sexual assault, which he later denied.

A source close to White’s family confirmed the news to The Daily Mail. An insider told the outlet, “For Netflix to drop him from the show is a disgrace. It was just false rumors. It’s just not right.”

“Percy is wonderful young man, that’s the truth,” they added. “He never took part in any of the false claims again him, which were on Twitter and never followed up or substantiated.”

They continued, “Percy is respectful, gracious, talented actor, a true professional. He’s unfailingly polite to all, including the crew and his fans, most of whom are loyal to him as it should be.”

The Daily Mail reports that Netflix has made “no decision on casting” in Wednesday due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Decider reached out to Netflix, which did not immediately respond to request for comment. White’s representative also did not immediately respond to Decider’s request for comment.

In early January, an anonymous Twitter user shared a since-deleted tweet accusing the actor of assaulting them at a party.

According to Variety, the accuser wrote, “He would pursue, have sex with, abuse and get my friend high who was 13/14 at the time. Last time I knew they had sex she was 16 and he was 20. He assaulted me at one of those parties awhile I was too drunk, and he had cornered and pressured and assaulted multiple of my friends.”

White denied the accusations in a statement shared in June, calling it a “a campaign of misinformation.”

“Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online,” he wrote at the time. “Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats.”

He continued, “The rumors are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.”

White starred in Wednesday Season 1 as Xavier Thorpe, a classmate of Wednesday’s who had the ability to bring his artwork to life. His character was one of the show’s main love interests.

The actor’s upcoming projects include a rom-com opposite his Wednesday co-star Jenna Ortega, titled Winter Spring Summer or Fall.
