“Gen V” may be our only window into this world for a while, as post-production on “The Boys” season 4 has halted due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes. Though the next installment of the main series has finished filming, work shut down when the writers strike began because, as showrunner Eric Kripke explained, “There’s a good amount of dialogue we write in post that the actors come back to record (called ADR), to help bridge story gaps or clarify a plot point.” With actors now also on strike, there are two reasons for the shutdown that the AMPTP needs to resolve before the Boys can get their show back on the road.
At least we’ll be seeing some familiar faces in Gen V. Soldier Boy actor Jensen Ackles confirmed at Creation New Orleans earlier this year that “Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment” and “there’s a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off.”
Summer is over and it’s almost time to pack up and head off to college. The first three episodes of “Gen V” will premiere September 29th on Prime Video, with a new episode releasing every Friday after that.
